These lifesize polymer sculptures of various North American mushrooms were placed throughout storefronts in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto as part of the 'Playgrounds' exhibitions that is curated there annually. Invited to do a Parkdale-specific installation, I decided to consider mushrooms as stand-ins for this neighborhood-in-transition. Mushrooms are both commodified & reviled, which formed a nice parallel to Parkdale. Accompanying the mushrooms sculptures was a publication that could act as a fieldguide, and which led viewers to the locations of the mushrooms.
