'Magpie With All The Gold & Silver Wrappers Collected from Chocolate Eaten By Me And Other Artists In The Gallery Sitting On Installation Guardians' detail from 'Picturesque/Picaresque...'
gouache, watercolour and graphite on wall, chocolate wrappers, digital photo print
I like magpies. In Eindhoven, they were as populous as pigeons are in Toronto. In artwork, sometimes I think of them as allegorical stand-ins for the artist, collecting shiny things and all. The shine is pouring down into the image of the cup at the bottom of the installation.
